2020 Project Updates: Did I Complete Them All?

It’s that time of year to do a round-up of 2020 projects! At the beginning of the year, I made this post about everything I wanted to accomplish this year, and crazy enough I completed every one of them! It’s crazy to think some of these things were all this year, but I guess quarantine kinda warped my perception of time haha. So let’s do a recap of these projects and I’ll show you an update of what they look like now!

  1. Finish Basement Projects? YES!

This category had a few subsections. I wanted to make the builts ins in the craft room, finish out the closet, install new stairs, and tile the laundry area, and I got this all done! Honestly can’t believe it myself. Check out these before and afters. You can also check out my post about the stairs here, the bifold doors I made for the closet here, and all about my tile here!

Craft Room Built-Ins

In the craft room, there’s this weird cinder block area that juts out and kind of created dead space. I wanted to utilize this area so I decided to make built ins! I thin they turned out great, and I’m still working on filling them up with all the craft supplies!

Craft Room Closet

I built shelves, painted them, trimmed it out, then also made bifold doors that you can learn how to make here. Finally, I used some extra tile I had to cover the concrete floor of the closet area for a complete look!

Basement Stairs/Closet

I honestly can’t believe the stairs! I hired a professional to do the stairs so that they were super sturdy and well made. They did a phenomonal job, and also framed in the closet underneath the stairs for more storage. I painted and stained the stairs myself though, and you can read all about that process here!

Laundry Room Tile

This was just done in December to round out the year! I also hired this out professionally, and glad it did. We had to level the floors in order to lay the tile. And it looks great!

2. Continue Landscaping? YES

I wanted to landscape this side of the house better. So we took out the holly bushes, and I added a path to the gate, and planted some new bushes! It still needs a little more work, and I’m hoping the grass comes in more in this are to fill it out, but looks so much better!

I am still hoping to get more plants over here, and I think my grass will continue to spread into this dead area since we cleared out so many trees, so hopefully this area will look even better!

3. Get a Shed? YES

I wasn’t sure if I was going to attempt to build a shed or not, but then I found out our local tuff shed lot was being moved, and they were selling all the display ones at a deep discount! Here it is now, and I can’t wait to start landscaping around it with a path and plants. Will also probably paint it eventually.

4. Resurface Tub? YES

We resurfaced the tub, and installed new hardware so it looks brand new now!

And while it wasn’t on this list of what I wanted to do, I also did board and batten in my kitchen dining area, shiplapped my hallway, built some easy cabinet doors for my shelves, and so many other things! Tell me in the comments what you want me to do next year! I will probably make a goal list like this again for 2021 because it’s so cool to look back and feel so accomplished!
