Office Mood Board + Plans for the Room!

We are well underway with the renovation to the office! I’ve completely gutted it, redone the electrical, and sanded the floors. Now is the time we get to start on the fun stuff! I wanted to show you guys some inspiration shots of what i’m going for as well as a mood board of the finishes I’m thinking about!

Where we started

Below are a couple before pictures. You may think the office looks great, but it felt very hodge podgy in person. Disjointed and clearly not done well. I was also having some mold issues from when the previous owners decided to install the washer and dryer upstairs, so I wanted to get that resolved. Low and behold, I didn’t think I’d find a door in the wall and beadboard on the ceiling!

Where we’re at

Below you can see where we are currently! Next steps we are going to take out the door and reframe, fix the damaged wood where they had put the dryer vent, and continue to scrap the glue off the ceiling. I’m going to try and save the beadboard ceiling, but they just need to be cleaned up a bit!

Where we’re going

Okay, what you guys really want to see! My plans for the office is to make it more functional for me, and obviously much more aesthetically pleasing! My desk situation before wasn’t working for me. I work from home and I just need a lot more storage and more desktop space for my computers. So we are going to do a built in desk along this main wall that it shares with the living room. I’m also going to use this as an opportunity to combine a small closet with the built in desk. I think it will blend it well and free up space where the original closet was!

Next, I want to do a full wall of built in bookshelves! Before there were just a few hiding behind the door, but with the closet door moved we will be able to line the entire wall with a beautiful bookcase! I’m thinking of doing something similar below!

Mood Board

For the finishes, I’m thinking about either painting the floors or doing a Luxury Vinyl Plank. I don’t want to destroy this subfloor again, so LVP is perfect because it’s a floating system that can easily be taking back up. I’ll mostly be doing white, with maybe some fun color accents on the desk and natural colored desktop and shelves. I’m excited to see it come together!
